At Shakespeare Infant School, British Values are at the heart of our ‘WE CARE’ ethos: Welcoming, Encouraging, Caring, Aspirational, Respectful and Emotionally Intelligent. We help children to understand the importance of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.

Through WE CARE Time, assemblies, Children’s Voice, Rights, Respect and Responsibility and our wider curriculum, children are given age-appropriate opportunities to explore different values, cultures and beliefs. We encourage children to recognise that their voice matters, to respect others and to develop the confidence to positively contribute to their school and wider community.

We celebrate the diverse backgrounds of our school community and support children to become respectful, responsible and confident citizens, equipped for life in modern Britain and the wider world.
