Geography
Children learn about their local area, the United Kingdom and the wider world through engaging and meaningful experiences. They develop an understanding of both human and physical geography, exploring how places are similar and different and how people interact with their environments.
Learning builds progressively from exploring familiar places and communities in EYFS to developing geographical knowledge, map skills and fieldwork techniques throughout Key Stage 1. Children learn to use maps, atlases, photographs and first-hand observations to investigate and understand the world around them.
Fieldwork and outdoor learning play an important role in our Geography curriculum. Children are encouraged to ask questions, collect information, observe patterns and draw conclusions, helping them to think critically and develop as young geographers.
Through Geography, we aim to foster a sense of awe and wonder about the world, an appreciation of different cultures and environments, and a growing understanding of their role as responsible global citizens.
